Light has been shed on the events that led to the suspension of former CBN governor, Lamido Sanusi. He claims his stubbornness at getting to the root of the missing $20b made sure the president had to do something drastic. Reports say that in a meeting with the country's commercial bank chiefs, he had insisted he will force all of them to open their books since they weren't co-operating.
He especially fingered two bank chiefs who got jittery and immediately notified the petroleum minister who in turn pressured the President. Sanusi insists the money was laundered to finance next year's elections. The Finance Minister had after the suspension insisted on an independent audit of the NNPC. Let's not forget the Auditor General said his office wasn't constitutionally empowered to do such after announcing he had 12 auditors on the NNPC books. Do you have hope we will get to the root of this matter?
