The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of Mr. Godwin Emefiele as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He is to take over from the suspended governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. He is from Agbor, Delta state and was a Finance and Insurance lecturer before his banking career started. His banking career has spanned over 18 years so far. He got to the pinnacle by becoming the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank plc.

He served in various capacities in the bank before his appointment as GMD/CEO. His appointment was confirmed alongisde that of Zainab Bulkanchawa who is now the President of the Court of Appeal. They both were questioned for hours by the Senate before they were confirmed. Will he continue with Sanusi's legacy? Is he even the right man for the job?
