The game touted by many as the title decider was played at Anfield and it saw Liverpool emerge as victors in a keenly contested match. It ended 3-2 in favour of the Reds. The hosts made a typically fast start to the game and took the lead in the 6th minute. Luis Suarez found Raheem Sterling bursting through with a delicate pass and he had enough composure to finish well. Martin Skrtel extended their lead 20 minutes later, heading in a Steven Gerrard corner.

However, Manuel Pellegrini’s men were level in the second half. First, David Silva got on the end of a fluid move to reduce the deficit, before Glen Johnson deflected the ball past Simon Mignolet. Both sides went for the jugular and missed several chances, but Coutinho had the presence of mind and technique to smash the ball past Hart, after Kompany made a mess of his clearance. Will Liverpool eventually emerge the league title winners?
