An Akwa Ibom high court in Itu, Akwa Ibom state has found Airtel Nigeria guilty of barring the line of one Mr Imerh for 23 days in 2010. The plaintiff sued the company for damages worth N215m after the said act had taken place and the company didn't give him any reason for barring his line despite his appeals. Justice Godwin Abraham delivered the landmark ruling on a case that's been on since then.

This judgment could open a floodgate of litigations against telecoms operators in the country as the average Nigerian has lots of stories to tell about poor services. The company's representative admitted the line was barred though not in the manner suggested. The court was left with no choice than to deliver the judgment. Airtel has decided to file an appeal in Calabar. Awesome news, we should contact our lawyers next time such happens...
