2012/2013 FA cup winners have pulled yet another upset in the current cup campaign by sending the most expensive team in the premier league crashing out of the competition yet again this season. What is more surprising is that the Latics won at the Etihad stadium which has been referred to as the slaughter slab this season, due to the number of goals Manchester city have scored at their home ground. This is also coming on the heels of same Wigan snatching the trophy from under the noses of the citizens at Wembley last season to emerge champions.

Wigan's goals were scored by Jordi Gomez and James Perch while City's consolatory goal was scored by Samir Nasri. Martin Demichelis fouled Antoine Fortune in the box and the resulting penalty was perfectly dispatched by Gomez. Same Demichelis' was caught in a bad position which then led to Perch scoring the Latics' second goal of the day. The win has set up a semi final meeting with Arsenal at Wembley in what should be an easy tie but could easily produce another shock result. Arsenal looks to end their 8 year trophy drought this season and the FA cup seems their best shot at doing so.
