2,100 MW LOST TO PIPELINE VANDALS

On the heels of poor electricity supply in the country for some weeks now, the Federal Government has said the country lost about 2,100 megawatts of electricity in the past few months. The generated power was lost as a result of the activities of gas pipeline vandals. It is the gas that power the thermal power plants in the country, said the Minister of Power.

Prof. Chinedu Nebo at a press briefing in Abuja mentioned some of the affected areas to include the ELPS which was out for 7 months and led to a loss of over 800MW. The Trans Forcados is also out with a loss of 800MW. The Trans Niger is also affected with a loss of 500MW and the Alakri Onne was recently attacked this month. Are the vandals ghosts? Can we ever run out of excuses?
