Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo on Monday explained the recent drop in power generation. It is as a result of gas shortages to the generation companies (GENCOs). He attributed the acute gas shortage to pipeline vandalism and general security challenges in getting the gas to the GENCOs. He also lamented the infrastructure deficit in the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) network.
He said the TCN needed serious funding and infrastructures to enable it transmit the generated power to the distribution companies (DISCOS). He called on stakeholders to fashion the way forward. He also assured that the power reform agenda was on course. One begins to wonder what the duties of the Minister are again. Can we get out of this quagmire?
