A lot has gone into the marketing of sea salt as the new king of healthy foods and being more nutritious than table salt. Well, Dr. Janet Brill has said they are basically the same thing. The sodium levels in both kinds of salt are the same and table salt has the advantage of iodine which is key for healthy thyroid functioning.
She went further to state that Kosher salt is the best option of all available kinds of salt. She however advised to reduce the intake of salt as much as possible so as to reduce the sodium levels in the body. This was due to the fact that a lot of processed foods already contain more sodium than the body needs. Now this is getting worrisome, what exactly are we to eat according to nutritionists huh?
