Bowing to sustained pressure from Nigerians over the deadly recruitment exercise which his ministry oversaw, the embattled Minister of Interior, Abba Moro has apologised to Nigerians. He also took responsibility for the events that led to the deaths of over 17 young Nigerians during stampedes across the nation. The sad incident occurred on the 15th of March, 2014.
He accepted responsibility while appearing before the Senate Committee probing the incident. He said all plans were in place to conduct an electronic recruitment exercise in order to eliminate job racketeering. He also said the plans were approved by the board of the NIS and the Comptroller General was privy to it. Another board member, Mr. Zakariya denied such. The first member to deny was Mr. Tapgun. Will he get fired now? Is his apology even proper?
