The Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta region has asked the government to provide a special court for them in which suspects can be prosecuted. The military said since it was not empowered constitutionally to prosecute, it had no choice but to take suspects to the normal law courts.
The Spokesman for the JTF, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu said the dispensation of justice is too slow and was undermining the efforts of the JTF. It is needed so that the criminals who attack oil installations in the area can be speedily dealt with in order to serve as deterrent. What is the way out for the courts?
