Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has berated the suspension of the newly appointed Chief Judge of Rivers state, Justice P.N.C. Agumagu by the National Judicial Council. He described the act as unfortunate and wondered why the NJC was meddling only in the case of Rivers state. The NJC suspended Justice Agumagu and gave him 4 days to defend the suspension allegations.

Amaechi speaking through the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Mr Worgu Boms, said Justice Agumagu is senior in Biology, Bench and Bar to Justice Okocha who is the preferred candidate of the NJC. He said Justice Agumagu remains the substantive Chief Judge of Rivers State. Who then do we entrust the constitution to?
