New minister of defence, Aliyu Gusau has written a letter to the President stating that his powers were being challenged by the Chiefs of Defense, Air Force, Navy and Army. According to sources, he especially fingered the Chief of Defense staff, Air Chief Marshal Badeh as being rude.
The minister called for a meeting with the service chiefs and the defence chief was outraged such was done without his knowledge. He the reminded the minister he didn't have such powers as he wasn't the president. This made Gen. Gusau notify the president that he has to call the chiefs to order or he will quit. Rumors emerged on Wednesday that he actually resigned but the ministry denied such happened.
