Following the successful raid of Alagarno and Ajiri satellite camps in eastern Borno state, the military mobilised a formidable force that commenced a tactical offensive on Sambisa and killed at least 210 members of the extremist Boko Haram sect. Reports are rife that villagers in the areas that share borders with Sambisa forest have turned the area of the attack into some sort of tourist centre as they’ve been going there to see the corpses. This is coming after attacks by the sect on soft targets in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states which led to the deaths of many students and women.

Due to the intensity of the military offensive, a lot of suspected members of the sect have been fleeing into Maiduguri where they run into the waiting arms of the civilian joint task force. Abubakar Mallum says at least 50 0f such suspects have been arrested with weapons and have been handed over to the military. Meanwhile, residents of Maiduguri have to sleep less as most are made to keep watch on their neighbourhoods to prevent and repel any Boko Haram attacks on the capital.
